Hours: 40 Hours per week Monday to Friday – 3PM Finish on Fridays.  

Contract: Permanent

Overtime: Available at evening and weekends

Location: Chadderton, Oldham, UK

Ultimate Products require a suitably skilled Building Maintenance Operative / Handyman to assist with the general running of our Victorian Mills based in Chadderton, Greater Manchester. Responsibilities will cover:

  • Weekly site inspections
  • Weekly checks on alarm systems and emergency lighting
  • General repairs such as: Painting & Decorating, general repairs of floors, walls and ceilings, building of furniture and other equipment, basic joinery such as hanging doors and repairing skirts, adhering to the Company’s Health & Safety procedures, supervising and liaising with external engineers and preferred contractors in relation to other essential repairs and maintenance, occasional modernisation projects

The role is varied in its duties and will include working with internal team members and external suppliers/contractors to discuss job requirements, review quotations and supervise on site works.

With experience the role also involves becoming a key holder and emergency out of hours response.

Overtime/varied shift patterns are also involved as certain repairs may need to be completed outside of normal working hours.

The salary for the role is very competitive and will be adapted in accordance with experience levels and suitability. However, annual salary reviews will also be available as part of the contract.

This an ideal role for someone locally based to Oldham area, with some general experience of handyman/tradesman work, looking for a stable, permanent position with all the benefits that come with working for a large PLC organisation.

Person Specification:

  • At least 2 years experience of general handyman, repairs and maintenance work
  • Good English language both spoken and written
  • Some building/construction/ H&S qualifications are advantageous but not essential
  • Driving licence
  • Hard working and reliable
  • Good attention to detail and takes pride in their work
  • Lives locally to the Oldham area
