Ambitious Manager Wanted!

We’re seeking a proactive, future focused Distribution Centre Manager to help evolve our well established DC at Manor mill in preparation for future growth.

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking manager with potential who is committed and passionate about driving operational efficiency and can actively contribute to positive improvements

This role at the Manor Mill site is aimed at an ambitious, operationally minded manager ready to step up, drive efficiency, maintain and improved standards in a fast-paced distribution centre to new levels.

Ultimate Products is an international PLC with over £180m turnover, with plans to reach £300m within 3–5 years. We supply major European retailers such as Amazon, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, B&M and Morrisons with leading consumer brands including Salter and Beldray.

Our Oldham DCs are at the heart of the operation, handling thousands of orders daily across wholesale, retail and ecommerce channels.

Accountabilities and Expectations

You will be accountable for:

Operational Leadership & Performance

•             Overseeing the DC leadership team day to day, ensuring managers and supervisors have the resources, guidance and confidence they need to keep their areas running smoothly.

•             Setting clear roles and responsibilities across the DC, helping colleagues understand their priorities, expectations and daily goals.

•             Working with the team to consistently meet customer deadlines on delivery ensuring the operation flows effectively.

•             Collaborating with HR, IT, Operations and Supply Chain to refine processes, strengthen ways of working and enhance productivity.

•             Helping the team make best use of people, space, equipment and workflow to create an efficient, well organised environment.

•             Using KPIs, data and commercial insight to spot opportunities, support informed decision making and continually improve service and cost control.

 

Team Management & Culture Building

•             Leading and developing the DC leadership team to deliver consistent, high-standard performance.

•             Running weekly leadership/ops meetings that set pace, structure, accountability and clarity.

•             Partnering with HR to deliver training, performance management, upskilling and succession planning.

•             Setting clear roles, standards and expectations for every member of the DC team.

•             Creating a culture of discipline, teamwork, ownership and growth.

 

Inventory & Stock Control

•             Owning stock accuracy, storage quality, rotation and space management.

•             Working with Supply Chain to ensure stock availability meets operational and customer demand.

•             Investigating, resolving and preventing stock discrepancies.

 

Customer & Stakeholder Delivery

•             Ensuring all B2B are processed accurately and delivered on time, with particular focus on Amazon Prime, ecommerce and key retail partners.

•             Working closely with the team to address any customer facing operational issues promptly, supporting colleagues to identify the cause and put effective corrective actions in place.

•             Building positive, productive relationships with couriers, hauliers and other external partners to support smooth, timely deliveries and aligned priorities.

•             Keeping open communication with internal teams and senior stakeholders should external challenges arise, ensuring expectations are managed and high standards are maintained across the DC.

 

Continuous Improvement & Change Leadership

•             Leading operational changes across systems, equipment, layout, people and workflow.

 

Person Specification & Requirements

We’re looking for someone who brings:

•             Minimum 3 years' experience in warehouse/distribution/ logistics management.

•             Proven success managing small-medium teams in a fast-paced environment.

•             Strong, confident leadership - you set standards and people follow.

•             A process-driven mindset with the ability to improve, redesign and optimise.

•             High resilience, strong decision-making and exceptional organisation.

•             Experience building relationships with third-party couriers and suppliers.

•             A proactive, high-energy, forward-thinking approach.

•             Reasonable academic qualifications at GSCE, A-Level or equivalent. A Degree is desirable

•             Right to work in the UK
